A few things in case I forget to come back to them. I am guilty of run on sentences, fragments, and spelling errors. I feel it is only right for me to set out on this "new adventure" with a sense of honesty and frankness. Since this blog is providing anyone who reads it a glimpse into the my world, I feel I should be honest about my short comings as I will be about the thoughts, rambling as they may be.
I have been bouncing among Doctors for a few years now. I have always had some dietary-digestive issues but never went to a doctor for them until after I had my daughter. I was sent to my first specialist in 2005-2006 after getting an upper respiratory infection that did not respond to antibiotics. I was given a set of skin test to determine if I was allergic to anything. I came back positive to more items than I did negative. Included in this were several food items! Onions, Soy and Oat. The first few months were hard they put me on an elimination diet-no 'mold' based products. You would not think that this would be difficult but it was.
You have to make everything from scratch you can not purchase any pre-made products! I dropped a lot of weight, I was not over weight and had lost most of my "baby" weight by this time. Actually I was below my goal weight when I went to the doctors. They also started my on a year of injections. I was getting 4 week! 2 shots in each arm. After a year of this it became necessary for me to switch doctors. Once I leveled off, the new doctor retested me and you wont believe it. I wasn't allergic to 1/2 the stuff. So they started me on an introduction to the items I had cut out.
Now during this time period I was also sent to a Doctor of Gastroenterlogy who diagnosed me with Acid Reflux and a twisted and slow colon! Needless to say when we started to introduce the food items back I got sick again! So to this day I don't eat any Soy, no onions, and little gluten at all. You would be surprised how hard it is to find bread or crackers without soy or oat.
This is why I am so fascinated by food. I always tried new food items, culinary treats. Expect today my exploration in food is trying to find places that everyone in my family can eat at and enjoy.
If you don't read labels you should. Not only will it give you a better understanding of what individuals go through that can not have stuff, salt, sugar, preservatives, carbs, or like myself soy but you will start to realize that commercially packaged "food" items have a lot of stuff in them that you don't need or want.
Until next time.

Entering the blogging world
Lately I have been hearing a lot about blogging. Not only through such sites as Facebook, My Space, Twitter and other networking sites but even in movies and on radio. All the chatter has made me curious.
I don't profess to have an exciting life or a dramatic take on the head lines of news. I am not a hard core democrat running along side the Health Care reform set forth by our president. Nor am I a dye in the wool Republican screaming about Socialism and the down fall of our society with the "change" in the guards. What I am is hmm.. a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a child of divorce, a child of a gay parent, a co-worker, employee, and a friend. I am none of these in any specific order. I can be several in one day and sometimes I am a few things not listed above.
The one thing I know is that I am loved and that I love to the best of my ability.
I can not say that this will be an exciting blog but it will have some things that others may not. It will touch on food! I am fascinated by our societies love/hate relationship with food. We have an entire television network devoted to food! There are shows about traveling and eating, about cooking at home, shopping, eating competitions, eating the strange and unusual the extreme but rarely do you see shows addressing how to eat, travel and be safe when you suffer from Food Allergies. Food sustains us, helps us grow, develop and for many learn how to socialize. But there are those of us that have to be so very careful because food can cause physical discomfort, serious illness and for some death. It is amazing! Surreal and all together a life altering....Food.
I don't really get to finish many things I start when I start them. I do get back to them. It is time for me to be mommy!!
